MARINE manager Kevin Lynch was full of praise for his players this week after they rattled in seven goals in a league game for the first time in more than two decades.
A 7-2 trouncing of Durham City on Saturday preserved the club’s unbeaten start to the campaign heading into last night’s crunch clash with FC United of Manchester.
(For details of that game which took place at Bury’s Gigg Lane ground, visit the Crosby Herald’s official website at www.crosbyherald.co.uk).
“I was absolutely delighted with the performance against Durham.” Lynch told the Crosby Herald.
“People were talking before the match of all the problems at Durham and the team they were fielding, but the fact is you can only play what is put in front of you.”
For the record, Neil Prince and Jamie Rainford each netted twice while Peter Cumiskey, Lee Parle and Neil Black also chipped in with a goal apiece.
Continued Lynch: “Our team’s attitude and professionalism was spot-on for the game.”
Durham had accounted for Marine in last season’s FA Trophy so the result was certainly enjoyed by the Mariners’ supporters.
