CROSBY Stuart retained the cup at Bootle FC on Friday night with a 2-0 victory over C4th Boys.
This keenly fought contest was watched by a good crowd, and Crosby applied the early pressure with some long range shooting which was comfortably dealt with by the C4th keeper. Unfortunately for C4th, no one could get near Chris Clarke's perfectly flighted corner kick on 15 minutes which curled right into the far top corner.
John Cheetham went close soon after with a low shot that was well saved again.
Both Crosby full backs, Sean Smith and Darren Thomas were making good runs down the flanks and putting in dangerous balls, but the C4th defence performed admirably in clearing their lines.
Into the second half Chris Clarke turned provider, slipping an excellent through ball in for Sam Simm who fired a low cross shot into the bottom corner to secure victory.
A late tip over save by Danny Brunskill, earned his team a clean sheet and ensured the season finished on a high. Final score 2-0.
