GREAT Crosby Catholic Primary School ‘Old Boys’ U14’s played SWOY last Sunday in the penultimate game of the junior league and were back close to their best.
They took an early lead when forwards Sean Vis and Ben Williams combined well for the latter to score the first of his 4 goals. SWOY equalised after a mix up in the ‘Old Boys’ defence but Ben completed a first half hat-trick and Jack Roberts a 4th to give half time score of 4-1.
With the game all but won the ‘Old Boys’ lost some intensity in the 2nd half and Greg Page in goal made a couple of crucial saves and Dan Davies, Chris Crosby and Sam Merriman stood out at the back.
The manager called for a better last 10 and got it as Ben grabbed his 4th and an unfortunate defender put through his own goal just as Jack Thorp looked like scoring.
Final score 6-1. One final effort is called for now in the league decider against Forefield Reds!
