ST MARY’S College scored a remarkable double over the weekend by winning three competitions at the King William’s College Annual Golf Tournament on the Isle of Man.

Schools such as Stoneyhurst and Lancaster Grammar regularly compete at the top rated Castletown Links Course in this prestigious competition.

And after three years of trying, St Mary’s A team returned to the clubhouse with a combined Stableford score of 153 points with James Cotter claiming the individual best score of 42 points. In the afternoon they then posted a remarkable 10 under par in the Texas Scramble winning to grab victory.

Head of Boy’s PE at the College, Derek Williams said: “This was a remarkable days golf from some very talented young golfers. James Rooney scored 35 points off a handicap ofnine, Edward Leonard scored 42 points but lost out on a count back. Unfortunately we say goodbye to James and Michael this year but I would just like to thank them for their efforts over the years.”
