THE Vic won the final of the League Challenge Cup 2-1 last weekend in the Crosby & District Sunday Football League over Sports Bar Netherton at Bootle FC’s ground, writes Brian Metcalfe.
The Vic took the lead through Joe Duffy after only six minutes play, but Sports Bar equalised five minutes later through a Danny Morgan goal.
With the score at 1-1 at the interval it was left for substitute Tony Mossman to hit the winner for The Vic with only ten minutes left.
Congratulations to Seaburn after winning the Don Williams Premier Division with a game to spare. Seaburn won 2-0 last weekend against Bell & Co Solicitors thanks to Mike Joyce and Gary Roach.
In division one, leaders Sefton Arms still need to win their last game to take the title after losing 3-1 to Linacre Athletic last Sunday with Mark Hatton scoring a hat-trick for Linacre.
Second placed St William of York won 4-2 at Selwyn with Gary Weaver scoring two and one each for Gary Murphy and Joe Morley. A hat-trick each for Colin Bailey and Lee Reynolds helped Spotmix to a 8-3 win at Tanners United.
