Latest news and reports from Forefield’s junior football teams

Forefield Rangers U10s 5SB Rangers U10s 2

A SLOW start saw Forefield fall behind to an early SB Rangers strike.

Both teams were showing a great desire to win which at times resulted in them not being able to settle.

Forefield gradually started to apply more pressure but the SB Rangers' defence was standing firm until a clearance fell to Lewis Johnson.

Playing in defence, he hit a strike from the halfway line that rocketed into the top corner of the net.

Forefield started to gain their composure and put some excellent moves together. Another long-range strike from Lewis, a brace from Ben Dooley and one from Luke Stocks saw Forefield through to a 5-2 victory.

Matty Graham showed some great dribbling skills. Alex Smith and Luke Heeson read the game well and held their positions. Adam Fairclough showed some good battling skills but the honour for man-of-the-match went to Lewis Johnson for a fantastic all round display.

Forefield Sharks U13s 0 Ursuline Under 14s 1

SHARKS went down to the narrowest of margins against an older team but, make no mistake, they gave as good as they got in a truly battling performance.

Trailing at half-time to a freak goal, Sharks worked very hard to claim at least a point but the ball never fell for them in one or two goalmouth scrambles.

Aiden Obey's header from a corner was cleared off the line and a superb effort on the turn from Lewis Whorton was finger-tipped away by the keeper.

The whole squad once again put in a great shift but man-of-the-match went to Johnny Kershaw for playing in goal at very short notice, putting the team before himself and having an excellent game too.
