Formby hit by weather again

FORMBY FC’s enforced hibernation took another hit at the weekend as the weather yet again had the final say.

The Squirrels were due to travel to Holker Old Boys but the league have given dispensation to call off games without a matchday pitch inspection.

Holker had been in touch with Formby officials to say their pitch is frozen solid and with the temperature due to go down to -5 overnight there was no prospect of it thawing in time for 3pm Saturday, so the match was postponed.

It means that Formby now face the one hundred mile trip on a midweek evening later in the season, unless the league do some nifty swapping around.

With this week's rescheduling of all fixtures postponed so far Formby have a midweek game every week from mid February to mid April, with only two weeks without a midweek game. Now Holker Old Boys is postponed, that leaves one clear midweek. If more than one further postponement occurs Formby will be having three-game weeks.

The Squirrels’ next scheduled game is on Saturday when top of the table AFC Darwen are scheduled to visit Altcar Road.
