A SIXTH form trampolinist from a Crosby secondary school has bounced her way into the next round in the national schools trampoline competition.
Chesterfield High School Year 12 pupil Laura McLaughlin won the under-19s novice category in the North West section of the English Schools Trampolining Competition.
The tournament, held in Wigan, attracted more than 100 competitors from schools across the region.
McLaughlin took first place out of an entry of 60 competitors in this category, and advances to the Northern Finals on January 19.
Sarah Hardman, a physical education teacher at the school, highlighted Laura’s intense preparations for the championships.
She said: “Laura really deserves this success.
“She works and trains very hard, practising every lunchtime and after school in the run-up to the competition.
“This is as well as the practice she puts in at her local club. I am really proud of her and hope she progresses to the finals when she competes in the next round.”
