Latest news and reports from Northern Ladies Hockey Club

LAST Saturday saw the ladies’ first XI face Ulverston.

After a week off and some unlucky losses in recent weeks they were keen to put in a good performance and secure all three points.

Northern were the stronger of the two teams but despite bossing possession and creating chances, they could not turn their dominance into goals.

Northern eventually took the lead through Emma Ferguson to take a 1-0 advantage into the break.

The second-half went much the way of the first with Northern dominating possession and looking to score again.

However, the second goal proved elusive and it took some great penalty corner defence from the home side and a superb save from keeper Helen Jones at the death to secure the victory.

A good team performance and a deserved three points with lots of positives to take into the coming matches as the ladies look to make their way up the league table.
