Crosby Scout & Guide Marina Club enjoys another fine season of sailing and kayaking

CROSBY Scout & Guide Marina Club has come to the end of another successful summer season of sailing and kayaking.

Although the poor summer weather affected activities on more weekends than usual, training sessions and events such as the Junior National 12 hour Race at Southport were well attended.

The club’s visit to the National Scout Regatta at Draycote Water, Warwickshire, was once again a very successful trip.

Daniel Wade and Alex Beigan pulled off three straight wins in their Feva XL dinghy to take the under-18s title, and Sean Billinge and Adam Greenbank were beaten into second place by just one second after three hours racing in the under-13s.

A splendid weekend of camping and sailing was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Another success was the club’s application for funding from Sport England towards the cost of a new dinghy.

The winter programme of activities is taking place from this month.

The club would also welcome enquiries from prospective new members who would like to learn to sail when the main season starts in April.
