Friends Celebrate Funding Hat Trick

Moorside Park

THE FRIENDS of Moorside Park are celebrating this week after securing funding from three  different areas over the last few weeks.

The group have secured a total of £1,290 of funding for improvements within the park. Bellway  Homes have donated £100 after the group contacted them and told them about the work the  group have been doing in the park.

The Friends also took part in the Liverpool Echo Wish Campaign, where they asked people  to collect tokens from the paper to give them a share of the £25,000 fund. The group collected  an impressive 20,000 tokens which gave them £190.

Louise Hicks, Chair of the Friends Group said “We were overwhelmed by the support of local  residents who got behind us, collecting tokens for us, we had the local schools and shops  collecting for us. We are planning to spend the money from Bellway Homes and the Wish  Campaign towards new plants and shrubs for the rose gardens, which we have taken over  the  maintenance of.”

The group have also been given £1,000 from the Victoria Ward budget, which they plan to use  for new benches in the park.

The Friends group meet on the first Saturday of every month for litter picking and gardening  sessions in the rose gardens between 10-12, the next session will be held on Saturday February  2.
