The Military Media Course at Altcar with Sefton Army Cadets who supported it
ON THE worst weather weekend to date Merseyside Army Cadet Force Headquarters at Altcar played host for a Military Media Training Workshop for TA Volunteer Officers and also instructors with the Army Cadet Force.
Of 24 on the list 20 'battled the snow' and came from as far as Scotland, Northumberland, IOM and the South. The TA Officers were from Merseyside or North West Regiments. The intensive course was run by a National Specialist ACF Training Team and some of the subjects covered were Value of PR, Writing Good News Copy, Recruitment Media, The Importance of Local Press, Using Local Radio, Basic Photography, Making Pictures Count and Life as a Public Relations Officer.
Merseyside ACF also supported the training with cadets from the Sefton Detachments who acted roles of being Interviewed and photographed and the results from the Students assessed and reviewed.
The course was over long hours on the 3 days but was also enjoyable and everyone agreed that it was of great value and that they now had good basic knowledge on how to use good and truthful media to the benefit of their Regiments and Units.
