TWO members of Liverpool's Fitzgibbon family were today charged over orchestrating a multi-million pound heroin trafficking racket.
Brothers Ian and Jason Fitzgibbon were charged in court yesterday over an alleged plot to import and distribute bulk quantities of the Class A drug.
The Fitzgibbons were also charged over an alleged conspiracy to flood the streets of Merseyside with the party drug MDMA – the pure form of Ecstasy – and the suspected handling of drug cash.
As revealed by the ECHO last month, their parents William Fitzgibbon, 63, and Christine Fitzgibbon, 59, have also been charged with money laundering.
The Fitzgibbons were among nine suspected members of an organised crime group swooped on by serious crime squad detectives.
Those charged at Manchester magistrates’ court yesterday with conspiracy to import heroin and conspiracy to supply heroin were:
Ian Fitzgibbon, 38, of Heigham Gardens, St Helens. He was previously charged on October 22 with conspiracy to supply MDMA and money laundering.
