A PATIENT who falsely accused his Merseyside doctor of racism was jailed after pleading guilty to perverting the course of justice.
Liverpool Crown Court heard that Marc Thomas, 54, stormed out of Litherland Town Hall Health Centre after becoming angry with his doctor.
He later received a letter from the practice manager saying he was no longer wanted as a patient and to seek another GP.
Thomas, of Thackeray Gardens, Bootle, then phoned the health centre and was verbally abusive to the receptionist, threatening to go down to the surgery and “kick her face in”.
When the police were called and visited Thomas at his home, he claimed that his GP, Dr Sangeetha Steevart, had been abusive and called him “white trash”.
Thomas later repeated the claim when he made an online complaint about Dr Steevart to the doctor’s watchdog, the General Medical Council (GMC).
But a police investigation into the complaint quickly revealed that Thomas was lying.
