THOUSANDS of pounds worth of human hair was snatched in a bizarre beauty shop robbery.
The Genuine Russian Hair Company, on College Road, Crosby, was targeted by robbers who made off with hair destined for bespoke extensions, worth about £6,000.
Detectives swooped to arrest a gang of four men in the wake of the incident.
Posing as a customer, one suspect is said to have followed a genuine shopper as she was buzzed through the shop’s security door at about 2pm on Tuesday.
Once inside he made a brief pretence of looking at the samples of hair on display at the back of the shop.
Walking between desks the man then grabbed an armful of long tresses hanging on a rail from the wall.
When he was confronted by the manager, the man fled the store.
The suspect ran out on to the road chased by staff and several members of the public and jumped into a car waiting nearby.
