Support for Shop Local
TODAY is the start of the Crosby Herald Shop Local Campaign.
The launch focuses on Crosby Village but in the coming weeks, we will also cover other shoppins areas, such as Waterloo, Seaforth and Litherland.
We are calling on shoppers to use our local shops and see what is on offer rather than travelling out of the area.
It is a bid to encourage people to boost the local economy, to help local shops stay in business and to ensure spending stays in the area.
Sefton Chamber of Commerce along with the Crosby Village Traders’ Association, has given its support for the Shop Local Campaign.
Steve Dickson, chief executive of Sefton Chamber of Commerce (pictured), said: "Sefton Chamber had been promoting a buy local campaign amongst its members for two years, and following the economic downturn last year and this, we have endorsed the Media mix Shop Local focus.
"In Crosby and Waterloo, there has always been a strong community feel and support, and we have been motivating concessions on parking with the local authority, as have the Crosby traders’ association, to help stimulate local trade and encourage shoppers to stay local as much as possible.
"We will be continuing to offer support and ideas on how to focus on local independent traders.
"We are currently piloting bluetooth and text promotion services for local shopping campaigns in Bootle, where we run the town centre management programme."
In next week’s Crosby Herald the campaign will be brought to Waterloo, then Seaforth and Litherland in the following weeks.
