Crosby businesswoman is turning recycled bras into charity cash
A SHOP owner is calling on women to recycle their old bras and donate them to people in the Third World.
Wendy Hughes, 34, who has always lived in Crosby, has opened The Collection shop on College Road.
It offers a bra recycling service, where people can drop off their old underwear into a recycling bank in the shop.
Those that are not suitable are shredded and used to fill cushions.
For every 15 bras collected, £1 is donated to Jospice.
Wendy said: “People can recycle any of their old bras so long as they are washed.
“Rather than going to landfill and throwing them out, it’s a nice way to recycle and people are sometimes reluctant to take underwear into charity shops. Whenever people have a sort out before Christmas, I’d ask them to remember that they can recycle their bras here.”
The shop specialises in lingerie from sizes A to K, maternity bras and includes a fitting service.
