Crosby gardeners secure success in Sefton in Bloom

Almost 50 entries were received for the Sefton In Bloom competition, which runs in conjunction with the North West In Bloom event.

Judging was carried out in early August by David Rose, horticulture director of Southport Flower Show along with Anthony Clayton, plant manager of Dobbies Garden World, Southport.

There were a total of 11 winners and runners up selected for first prizes across five categories.

All entrants were sent certificates of merit and all entries in the Front Garden category will receive free Dobbies Garden Club membership.

Councillor Lord Ronnie Fearn, Sefton’s cabinet member for Leisure and Tourism, said: "As ever there were some beautiful gardens entered into this year's competition and the judges had some tough decisions to make when choosing the winners.

"The effort that residents, businesses and community groups make across Sefton really enhances the image of the borough, and how it is judged in the Britain In Bloom and North West In Bloom competitions.

"I would like to thank all the people who entered this very prestigious competition, as well as everyone who supported it and, of course, our winners for showing off their excellent horticultural skills."
