Ian Wear, secretary of Hightown Flower Show Committee, said: “It’s the major event in Hightown and people come from miles around.
“The quality of the entries is generally very, very good.
“I know people come to just have a look on the day. There is something for everyone. It makes for a nice day out for people.”
The Mayor and Mayoress of Sefton, councillors Alf Doran and Gill Cuthbertson will be presenting prizes at the event.
Major Bill Hunter commandant of Altcar Training Camp will also be among the special guests.
The show starts at 2.30pm and the prizegiving, which will see 20 trophies presented, will be taking place at 4pm.
