Congregation pledge £104,000 to Crosby church

GENEROUS parishioners have pledged a massive £104,000 to improve facilities at a Crosby church.

The congregation of St Luke’s Church, Great Crosby, offered the huge sum of money at the church’s Gift Day, when they were asked to pledge what they could to fund repairs and improvements to the 155-year-old building.

The money will go towards Phase One and Phase Two of the building work at the church.

Phase One is well underway and involves repairing the vestry area at the back of church and replacing the felt roof with tiles which will make better use of the space for activities, improve storage facilities and the toilet area.

This work is expected to be completed in two weeks.

Phase Two will see the entire church roof being re-tiled, which will give better insulation whilst maintaining the integrity of the building.

Some of the £104,000 raised will go towards Phase Three, which includes improving disabled access, the sound system and staged area. But more money needs to be raised to complete the final stage.
