THE Iron Men have received a charity shop fashion makeover which will be screened at Plaza Community Cinema.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Crosby Housing Association, the Gormley statues received 40 different makeovers with clothes from its charity shop in Lorne Road.
A group of Crosby Housing staff, school children and Citizens Advice Bureau volunteers and tenants, headed down to Crosby beach to lend their fashion expertise to project.
The group travelled to the beach at dawn in fancy dress and clothed the Iron Men in a unique fashion show.
Carried out with military precision, the beach was cleared by 7.30am – the only traces of activity were 40 balloons that were tied to the statues to commemorate the anniversary.
Dog walkers passed the 20 sculptures, which each sported two blue helium balloons.
It was the first in a series of events Crosby Housing Association is holding to celebrate its 40th birthday. The event will feature in a commemorative film, which will be screened at Plaza Community Cinema in September.
