Crosby headteacher lands lifetime achievement award

A CROSBY teacher has been handed a lifetime achievement award for her services to education.

Lesley Deninson, headteacher for 14 years at the Ainsdale CE Primary School won the Ted Wragg Award for Lifetime Achievement at an Oscar style ceremony in Manchester yesterday.

She was joined by teachers and governors from across Merseyside, including three members of staff from Holly Lodge Girls’ School, in West Derby.

Colin Riddell, 36, was given a distinction in the Outstanding New Teacher of the Year category while, Kate Doran and Anne Satchwell both got commendations.

Mrs Deninson, 57, of Crosby, speaking moments after picking up the award, said: “I’m overwhelmed.

“I knew I had been nominated but I didn’t think for a moment I would win.”
