Man accused of Northern Road stabbing in court charged with attempted murder

A MAN has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a father-of-three who was stabbed 18 times.

Paul Deery, 50, was repeatedly knifed in the chest at his girlfriend’s house in the Northern Road, Crosby.

The woman’s ex-partner, Paul May, yesterday appeared at Liverpool crown court via video-link from Walton prison charged with attempted murder on June 6.

The 37-year-old, of Fairbairn Road, Waterloo, entered no pleas.

The Recorder of Liverpool, Judge Henry Globe QC remanded him in custody until August 25 for a plea and case management hearing.

A trial date was also set for October 5.

Mr Deery, who has three children from previous relationships, was taken to hospital, but it is understood he has now been released.
