Liverpool FC legend Tommy Smith’s plea for help

TOMMY Smith has asked the public for their help in bringing the yobs who launched a string of attacks against him to justice.

Speaking emotionally, the Liverpool FC legend told the Crosby Herald: “I think I know who is behind it all, but I have never met them and I don’t have any evidence against them either.

“If anyone knows or hears anything about it or hears anyone bragging about it then I would ask them to contact the police. It would help a lot.”

Incidents to have plagued Tommy’s life over the last 15 months have included a brick being thrown through his front window, paint remover poured over his parked car, the word 'grass' daubed on his house and obscene phone calls made to his home address.

His car has been scratched at Anfield on matchday while he sat in the stands and he has been followed in the street by a foul-mouthed yob threatening him and his family.

He said: “I have had a heart attack and I'm on medication and what has happened doesn't help. Even so, I'm more worried for my wife because she is not so good.”

Police believe a criminal investigation, in which Tommy helped in as a potential prosecution witness, could be the chief reason for the attacks and a further investigation has been launched by police.

Known for his combative, no-nonsense style during his playing career Tommy, now 64, contacted the police to nip the intimidation in the bud.
