Shorrocks Hill Country Club arson attack

A BLAZE erupted at Shorrocks Hill Country Club when a suspected petrol bomb set light to the spa.

It is thought that arsonists hurled a device through the window of the Serenity Spa in Pinetops Health and Fitness at 9.40pm on Bank Holiday Monday, causing extensive damage to two rooms.

The property is owned and managed by Crosby businessman Terry Riley and his company Ascot Court Management.

No-one was injured as the spa, owned by Amy Warner, and nightclub, owned by Mr Riley, were both closed at the time, but dozens of diners and staff at the nearby Chinese restaurant were evacuated as fire crews battled the flames.

Speaking the day after the fire Pinetops co-owner Andy Dyson said: “I was there about three minutes after it happened, and the fire service did a brilliant job.”

He hoped the fitness studio would be able to resume trading yesterday.
