More young women want cosmetic surgery

THE Crosby-based Birkdale Clinic has reported a rise in the number of young women leaving college or starting university who consider cosmetic surgery.

Marie Jenkins, the clinic’s patients’ co-ordinator, said that breast augmentation was still the most popular procedure but lipsuction and abdominoplasty (tummy tucks) also counted among the 45 surgical operations booked at the Crosby centre in February.

“It is really interesting to see the mix of different professions who come into the clinic,” said Marie, who added that it was surprised by the number of students requesting details.

“We have a number of young women, who are leaving college or starting university who come to us wanting a new look for a new chapter in their lives and again this is mainly breast augmentation.”
