Cherie Blair warns Church about marginalising women

Cherie Blair

CHERIE BLAIR believes the future of Christianity is at risk because women followers are being marginalised from speaking their views.

The staunch Catholic, who was raised in Crosby, said few female believers liked to talk openly about their faith, despite her claim that it was women who had traditionally passed religion on to their children.

She made the claim in the final part of a Channel Four TV series called Christianity: a History, broadcast last night, in which she campaigns to change the culture of the church.

Mrs Blair, 54, said Christianity was “ambivalent to women” and added: “But when it comes to the public face of Christianity, now women are virtually invisible.”
