Top musicians give special performance at St Luke’s

ORCHESTRA stars performed at St Luke’s in a memorable weekend for members of the Crosby church.

The All Souls Orchestra had come up from London to play in a special Prom Praise concert at Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall on Saturday night.

And, after being looked after by parishioners of St Luke’s, the group performed at the church’s Sunday service.

Some of St Luke’s choir sang with the orchestra at the Phil on Saturday night after weeks of training for the big day under Paul Beardwood.

A host of famous tunes were performed, including Riverdance, and Remembrances, from Schindler’s List.

Soloists Bev Trotman, a former X-Factor finalist, and Joanne Lunn, an international classical soprano, were also on hand to show off their vocal skills.

Following Saturday’s successful concert, the church was filled with music the following morning.

Around 200 people turned up to watch All Souls play with local musicians at the service.

And festivities continued as St Luke’s hosted a barbecue to celebrate the event.

Revd Canon Peter Spiers was delighted with the weekend. He said: “Prom Praise was great – we have been supportive of the event for a number of years.

“The nice weather was great and we just had enough food. It was a great team effort and lots of people worked really hard to make the weekend a success.”
