Crosby church drama group is putting on a Beauty of a play
A LOCAL church drama group is busy preparing for its annual pantomime.
St Luke’s Players, a club linked to St Luke’s Church on Liverpool Road, will be performing their own version of Beauty and the Beast at the church.
The group, which was established more than 15 years ago, will be donating all proceeds to charity.
Graeme Kenyon, who is set to play Dr Dread in the play, said: “I joined the St Luke’s Players eight years ago and my wife and two children are all members of the group.
“The group consists of mostly members of St Luke’s congregation and we are very close-knit.
“We have been rehearsing since September. It is very hectic at the moment, but it is also a lot of fun.
“Every year we decide amongst ourselves which charity the money from the show should go to and then the Reverend approves the charity.
“Last year the proceeds from the pantomime went to Cancer Research and SWACA.”
Also joining the St Luke’s Players on stage will be dancers from Proctor Dance Academy.
Performances take place at 7.30pm on February 4, 5 and 6.
On Saturday, February 7, there will be a matinee show at 2.30pm and an evening show at 7.30pm and on Sunday there will be a matinee performance only.
Tickets are priced at £5 for adults and £3 for children and are available from Jane Murrow on 924 5142 (daytime) or 476 9189 (evenings/weekends).
