ONE of the world’s great rock ‘n’ roll legends Charlie Gracie returns to the British stage next week as star guest in Bill Kenwright’s The Concert They Never Gave.

Charlie will accompany the sounds of Roy Orbison, Gene Pitney and The Everly Brothers in the show which celebrates the finest American popstars of the ‘50s and ‘60s.

The last time the legendary guitarist headlined in the UK was at The London Palladium and The Hippodrome back in 1958.

A native of South Philadelphia, he became the first successful recording star of the ‘Rock Era’ to emerge from that neighbourhood.

In 1957, Charlie’s ‘Butterfly’ topped the American and British music charts, selling over three million copies. His other late ‘50s hits include ‘Fabulous’, ‘Ninety-Nine Ways’, ‘Wanderin Eyes’ and ‘I Love You So Much It Hurts’.

The Concert They Never Gave was dreamt up by Bill Kenwright and Keith Strachan, the co-creators of hit shows including ‘Four Steps To Heaven’, ‘Elvis That’s The Way It Is’ and ‘The Roy Orbison Story’.

The unmissable production recreates those special days of the golden era of rock ‘n’ roll.
