OUR ONLINE Open Mic directory is proving a big hit with musicians throughout the area, and you or your band can sign up.

Across Merseyside and West Lancs, there are a multitude of musicians who want their talents to receive wider recognition.

This is where Open Mic comes in. It has been established as a "one-stop shop" for anyone with an interest in local music to find out more about their favourite acts, or even book them for their event or function.

And the best thing is, it's absolutely free to get involved.

If you want to get your solo act, duo, or group online, we'll need a few details first.

Your name: Whether it's you as a soloist, or the title your group spent long hours of discussion dreaming up. Along with this, let us know a brief description of the style of music you play.

A brief biog: Who are you? Where are you from? Which school or college did you go to? If you're a band, how did you get together? Do you play your own material?

Experience: Are you a fledgling act or have you already wowed the crowds at live venues in the area?

A colour photo: Send one of yourself if you go solo, or a full band line-up. Don't forget to let us know who is who in the pic. A colour jpeg is best, although we can scan photos or retrieve one from a CD.

Getting in touch: If your Open Mic entry impresses a potential gig-booker, include the best way for them to reach you. We recommend an e-mail address, or a link to your homepage.

Please e-mail all information to sean.bradbury@liverpool.com, marked 'Open Mic' in the subject line. All submissions to Open Mic are free of charge, and acts will be e-mailed once their entry goes live.
